TOTTENHAM are preparing to break their transfer record for the second time this summer with the £17 million cash signing of David Bentley.
Spurs have attempted to use Darren Bent, Michael Dawson and Pascal Chimbonda in a series of possible player plus cash deals but new Blackburn Guv'nor Paul Ince has demanded cash only with Darren Fletcher a proposed replacement.
Spurs have already spent £16.5m on Luka Modric, but with Juande Ramos armed with £40m plus the £7m made on the Jermain Defoe deal, it seems it is only a matter of time before Bentley becomes Tottenham's record signing.
Ramos is still hoping to cash in on Paul Robinson, Chimbonda and Bent.
