Harpenden make a splash

HARPENDEN Swimming Club recorded their best ever result at the Bob Daplyn Under-14 Trophy at the weekend.

In the gala at Dacorum Leisure Centre, Hemel Hempstead, the team of five girls and five boys finished sixth out of 18 in the girls and fifth out of 15 in the boys section.

Flora Hanson, returning from a foot injury, and Duncan Nicoll both recorded wins in the 50m Backstroke and 50m Freestyle respectively, while Edward Cook took just over six seconds off his personal best for the 100m Individual Medley. Ellen Crick also set a new PB, shaving over two seconds off her 50m Butterfly time.

The Under-14s were back in action on Sunday night at Westminster Lodge at the CoStA Xmas gala.

Competing against Harrow & Wealdstone, Verulam and Watford, the team fought hard and eventually finished in a commendable fourth place.
