THOUSANDS of homes had their water restored after electrical problems and a burst water main left them dry.

Flooding at the North Orbital Industrial Estate in Napsbury Lane, St Albans, was picked up by CCTV at around 5am.

Five primary and infant schools in the area took the decision to close when it was not clear how long repair work would take.

Coincidently at the same time two pumping stations supplying the north of St Albans with water experienced electrical problems.

But all areas should now be back to running water, according to Three Valleys Water.

Workers are currently finishing of restoration work on the water main at the industrial park.

Sally Howe, spokeswoman for Three Valleys Water, said: "Three Valleys Water apologises to customers in St Albans who either experienced low water pressure or no water this morning.

"We are now carrying out a thorough investigation to determine the root causes of the two issues and whether or not they were connected."

Surely because all the inconvience that this has cost us today, you would think the water board would compensate us in our waters bill
