The rocket beginning its journey.

PUPILS who built a rocket which can shoot two eggs nearly 1,000 feet in the air were given a visit from their MP today.

After reading about the students in the Review, Anne Main decided to visit Beaumont School to personally congratulate the five young engineers.

The rocket was built as part of a national competition and can take two eggs nearly 900 feet up in the air and return them safely to the ground.

Science teacher Stephen Turner said: "The competition has been a real learning experience for the boys.

"Apart from the process of designing and building the rocket, during which they had to get to grips with complex scientific concepts, they also had to apply for an explosives licence to store, purchase and transport the rocket motors.

"We are understandably very proud of the boys' achievement."
