Physio off to Rwanda

VOLUNTEERS from Harpenden are getting ready to fly to Rwanda to deliver first-aid training.

They will also teach 400 children how to play rugby.

Denise Adams Harpenden RFC's physiotherapist will head off to Kigali, Rwanda with Darren Ead of Old Albanians RFC to try and make a difference in a country riddled with poverty and trauma.

Ms Adams, from Roestock Gardens, Harpenden, is flying out on May 23 and is seeking the support of people in the district to make the trip successful.

"The Rwandan people are learning to live together again and sport is playing a significant role in creating partnerships, encouraging team work and reconciliation," she said.

"Many of the clubs around St Albans and Harpenden have good facilities and trained first aiders. I want to share this with the children of Kigali.

"We want to make as much of an impact as we can so we need donations of first aid equipment and basic sports equipments such as balls, cones, boots and sports bras."

To donate items that can be taken to Rwanda call Denise on 07961 125390.
