Why you should vote Labour

LOCALLY Labour councillors work hard for everyone in the community:

  • Opposing the Liberal Democrats' plans to use housing money for a new leisure centre at Westminster Lodge.
  • Campaigning against the Conservative County Councillors' decision to close the Jubilee Centre day service.
  • Speaking up for elderly tenants in sheltered accommodation worried about being moved out of their homes.

We talk to residents all the year round and work on the issues that concern local people - the appalling state of the local roads, the lack of a cinema and leisure opportunities for our youngsters, intrusive developments that generate more traffic congestion and blight residential areas.

We know that people want to feel safe - with good street lighting, CCTV, 20mph zones in residential areas and visible policing.

We know that older people have welcomed Labour's free bus travel but we need an expanded taxi voucher scheme for those who cannot use the buses.

We all want to take pride in St Albans and the villages - with clean streets, discreet and reliable recycling, green verges and a lively and prosperous city centre.

Voting for local Labour councillors on May 1 will mean real action on these issues - we are on your side.

"We are on your side". Of course you are Roma - until you get control, then you turn into self-interested and self-obsessed councillors just like all the others.

How worried were they before Labour decided to scare them?
Perhaps we'd have more housing if the Tories and Labour didn't sell of the Council Houses and pocket the money...

Well I wonder who the anonymous At Home is - - still hawking the old Lib-Dem story about the Government taking money - never a mention of the millions that come back to St Albans to fund more social housing.

Re: sheltered accommodation - the older tenants aren't stupid they understood what was being proposed without any prompting from Labour. Don't keep under-estimating people.

Having an offender hostel built in the area means your not getting my vote.

Coming from a Labour politician that is quite a charge! Perhaps at National level your hopeless leader should head your advice. Thankfully the public your party detests so much have seen through your nonsense.
