Hotel Robbery

STAFF at a hotel in Redbourn were left traumatised when a robber threatened them in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Two staff manning the reception desk at the Ramada Jarvis Hotel in Hemel Hempstead Road were confronted by a man demanding the takings from the safe shortly after 2.30am.

However, as the safe could not be opened, no money was taken but a mobile phone belonging to a member of staff was. General manager Daniel Loosley said the victims were shocked by the incident but were unhurt, and luckily no guests were disturbed during the raid.

Police are now searching for a black man, aged between 25 to 30 and described as around five feet six inches tall.

Detective Constable Andrew Boyer, who is leading the investigation, said: "This incident would have been very distressing for the victims and I need the public's assistance in tracing the offender.

"If anyone knows anything about the incident, or saw somebody acting suspiciously in the area prior to the crime taking place, then please come forward."

Anyone with information should contact DC Boyer on 0845 33 00 222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
