POLICE have re-opened two lanes on both sides of the A1M following, what is now being described, as a four-way collison this morning.
Both the north and southbound carriageways between junctions four (Tesco roundabout) and five (North Hatfield) were closed at around 9am after a wholesale van hit the central reservation and collided with three cars travelling in the opposite direction.
Traffic came to a complete standstill in both directions, but police say it has started moving again, but slowly.
The driver of silver Mercedes VW van, a 47-year-old man from Stevenage, was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
