A YOUNG woman in her 20s was killed yesterday afternoon when the car she was driving hit the central reservation and overturned.
The accident happened around 12.15pm on the London Colney By-Pass as the woman drove her Ford KA southbound towards Junction 22 of the M25.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor and taken to the QEII Hospital.
Gary Sanderson, spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service, said: “On our arrival the paramedics found one woman trapped in a car.
“After rapidly assessing her, she was conveyed to the QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City."
Police are now appealing for anyone who saw the incident, or the car prior to the crash, to come forward.
Closures were put in place on both sides of the carriageway between the Bell Roundabout and the London Colney Roundabout and were not lifted until 3.23pm.
