CCTV help for uni theft

2:45pm Tuesday 13th May 2008

CCTV images of two men who may have information about the theft of expensive media equipment from Hertfordshire University, have been release by police today.

On 23 April two offenders broke into the Film, Music and Media building on the College Lane campus in Hatfield between 5.20pm and 9.20pm and made off with kit estimated to be worth around £500,000 according to a student.

Detective Sergeant Joanne Smith, from Hatfield police station, said: "I am asking for the public's help in tracing the men shown in the CCTV stills.

"I believe they may be witnesses to the crime or could be of assistance to our investigation so please get in touch.

"If anyone else has information about the burglary then also come forward."

The £7.5 million media suite was built at the university in 2006 but only completed in January with the installation of £2.5 million worth of equipment, including the latest technology in music, animation, film, television and multimedia production.

Anyone with information should contact DS Smith or PC Dave Gilmore on 0845 33 00 222 or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
