THE Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre in Great Missenden has been named the Small Visitor Attraction of the Year at a prestigious awards ceremony.
Following the popular venue's success in the regional awards last October, the museum came top in its category at the Enjoy England Awards for Excellence, held in St George's Hall, Liverpool on Wednesday night.
Judges noted the museum's all-round high standards in content, presentation and visitor experience and the attraction was particularly praised for its free story-telling sessions.
Speaking to the Bucks Free Press after the awards ceremony, museum director Amelia Foster says she is "truly delighted" with the award.
She adds: "We weren't expecting at all to win, but this is a fantastic recognition and validation of the work we do. The museum is a really inspirational place for young and old and my staff are extremely passionate about their work."
Felicity, widow of the late Roald Dahl and chair of the museum's board, added that the win was "inspiring and welcoming".
