CONTROVERSIAL plans to build eight flats on a coach yard in a surburban part of St Albans look set to get the go ahead.
The application to convert the coach depot in Heath Farm Lane into eight, two-bedroom flats was thrown out by St Albans District Council last year following an influx of complaints from neighbouring residents, who feared the development would overlook their properties and disrupt their privacy.
But a revised application is on course to be approved after minor adjustments were made to address the concerns of residents.
And while protest letters have once again flooded in, it seems they may not be as effective second time round.
Planning officers agreed there would be no overbearing impact on neighbouring properties and the development is likely to improve the character of the area rather than detract from it.
A recommendation to grant conditional permission has been made ahead of a planning meeting next Monday.
