New role for professor

A LONG-ESTABLISHED professor has been appointed deputy vice-chancellor at the University of Hertfordshire.

Graham Galbraith, an academic in building physics, will be bidding farewell to Glasgow Caledonian University, where he has worked for more than 15 years, to join the team at the University of Hertfordshire this autumn.

Currently pro vice-chancellor at Glasgow Caledonian, Professor Galbraith said: "I feel privileged to be joining the University of Hertfordshire and am very much looking forward to making an active contribution to its exciting and ambitious plans for the future."

He has a leading reputation in the study of condensation in buildings, using his expertise to set up a multi-disciplinary centre for research on indoor climate and health at his current university.

Professor Tim Wilson, vice-chancellor of the University of Hertfordshire, said: "We are delighted that Professor Galbraith is joining our senior team here at Hertfordshire.

"He brings with him a wealth of experience from both university management and leadership and in his research field.

"From his successful career to date, it is clear he shares our university's ambitious and entrepreneurial spirit.

"I am certain that he will make a significant and valuable contribution to the continued growth of Hertfordshire as a dynamic and relevant institution."
