Mayor's farewell sponsored swim

THE Mayor's last push to raise money for charity before stepping down will take form as a sponsored swim next Saturday.

Harpenden Mayor Bert Pawle will hold the event at Harpenden Swimming Pool for all swimmers who want to front crawl or breaststroke for up to 50 lengths.

Money raised will be split between the Mayor's charities - Community Meeting Point, who help mentally ill people in Harpenden, and MacMillan Cancer Support.

The event on Saturday April 5 is open to all aged over eight, just turn up anytime between 6pm and 9pm.

Entry forms are available from the pool or Harpenden Town Council offices in Leyton Road. Call the council on 01582 768278 for more information.
